Adele Bitter studied with Gerhard Mantel in Frankfurt and with Josef Schwab in Berlin. Supplementary studies with Lee Fiser (LaSalle Quartet) and masterclasses in baroque cello at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis complemented her formation. She is currently assistant leader of the cello section in the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. Adele Bitter is a passionate chamber musician and regularly plays recitals in a wide variety of formations. Her interest in contemporary music and her engagement with the works of persecuted, ostracised and exiled composers culminated in a recording of the complete works for cello solo and cello with piano by Isang Yun in 2017 (with Holger Groschopp, Cybele). In 2022 she recorded a first CD on EDA records with solo pieces for cello by various 20th century composers (EDA 47) followed by the recording of Jacques Ibert’s Cello concerto (EDA 48 Écoles de Paris) the following year. Her recording of the complete works for cello by Simon Laks with her duo partner Holger Groschopp (Cybele) was awarded an OPUS KLASSIK in 2023.
