Christian Seibert is born in 1975 in Delmenhorst into a family of pianists and teachers. He is taught by his father, the pianist and professor Kurt Seibert, from an early age and at 16 begins his studies under Professor Pavel Gililov in Cologne. Study visits to Vienna follow with Professor Hans Petermandl and Professor Wolfgang Watzinger, along with study-related master classes under renowned pianists such as Bruno Leonardo Gelber and Rudolf Kehrer. Success in international competitions, including the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau and the Busoni Competition in Bozen, bring an active international concert career and admission into a number of scholarship programmes.

His emerging interest in music from the late 19th and early 20th century lead to radio productions and WDR recordings, among them Ernst Toch's rarely played and highly-demanding concert etudes. He later records works by Toch for his debut CD on the CPO label. This recording is met by an enthusiastic response from the press; for example, the Fono Forum writes: "A colourful, lithe and spirited piece of piano playing. An interpretive masterpiece."

After taking his concert examinations in Cologne, he plays in international concert tours with the European Union Chamber Orchestra. He appears at festivals including the Alpen Classic Festival in Bad Reichenhall, the Lake Constance Festival, the Dvorak Festival (Czech Republic), the Rarities of Piano Music Festival at Husum Castle, the Echternach International Festival (Luxembourg), the Festival Internacional de Música Santander (Spain) and the Ruhr Piano Festival and performs solo recitals in Munich(Gasteig), Salzburg (Residenz), Bremen (Glocke), Hamburg (Musikhalle), Prague, London (Wigmore Hall), New York, Atlanta and Dubai. After he and the pianist Cyprien Katsaris complete a tour with Franz Liszt's Hexameron, his colleague pays tribute to him with the words: a wonderful pianist in whom I place great hope for the future.

An advocate of repertoires that are seldom heard, he plays Furtwängler's 65-minute piano quintet as part of a 22-concert European tour with the Kairos Quartett Salzburg. The breadth of his artistic work is revealed in numerous radio and concert recordings for WDR, Radio France, Bayerischer Rundfunk and other broadcasters with works by Hermann Schroeder, Max Reger and composers from the classical-romantic period. He dedicates his second CD on the CPO label to the composer Paul Hindemith. This also receives high praise from the press: "Seibert's playing is flawlessly alert, neither weak nor warlike; he expertly balances scherzo speed, eloquent melody and atmospheric tones. Hindemith will be the beneficiary of these unexpected perspectives." (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).

A recording of the piano concertos of Alexander Tansman with the Brandenburg State Orchestra of Frankfurt/Oder conducted by Howard Griffiths will be released in 2011 (CPO).
