Fabio Martino, born in 1988 in São Paulo, received his pianistic training in Brazil and Germany. In 2010 he won the first prize, donated by the Brazilian Development Bank BNDES, at Latin America’s largest international piano competition, and a year later the first prize at the piano competition of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft “Ton und Erklärung – Werkvermittlung in Ton und Wort” for whose laureate concert York Höller’s Third Piano Sonata was commissioned. Höller praised Martino’s “expressive, powerful but never brazen, sensitive but never indistinct, and, last but not least, technically perfect playing”. Since then, invitations have taken Martino to the world’s major concert halls and renowned festivals: the Seoul Arts Center (South Korea), Sala São Paulo, Cidade das Artes, Sala Cecilia Meireles (Brazil), the Miami International Piano Festival and The Gilmore Festival (USA), Heidelberger Frühling, Norddeutscher Rundfunk, Gasteig Munich (Germany). His appearances on television, for example on the Late Night Show of Brazil’s leading TV station, or the live radio broadcast of Villa-Lobos’s Fifth Concerto with the BBC Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, attracted great attention. In addition to numerous solo recitals, Fabio Martino has performed piano concertos by Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Bach, Schumann, Medtner, Bartók, and others with orchestras including the Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira (OSB), the São Paulo State Orchestra (OSESP), the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, and the Duisburg Philharmonic.
